As Laboratory Operations & Safety Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of QuantWare’s laboratories while helping build the operational foundations for our expanding R&D facilities, including our new semiconductor cleanroom.

Working closely with the Health & Safety Officer, R&D, Facilities and Operations teams, you will establish scalable laboratory and cleanroom support processes, ensuring our facilities remain safe, compliant and operationally efficient.

As QuantWare continues to scale, many laboratory and cleanroom procedures, operational standards and safety processes are still under development. You will own the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of these procedures, supporting both current laboratory operations and the commissioning of our new cleanroom facilities.

You will also support the Health & Safety Officer in implementing laboratory and cleanroom safety programmes, coordinating the RI&E (Risk Inventory & Evaluation), developing safe working procedures and ensuring compliance with applicable EHS requirements.

What you'll be doing

• Coordinate laboratory and cleanroom operations, including procurement, inventory management, asset tracking, storage, logistics, equipment calibration, maintenance, qualification and vendor coordination, ensuring laboratories remain operational and compliant.

• Develop, implement and continuously improve laboratory and cleanroom operational procedures, work instructions, documentation and support processes, establishing scalable ways of working as QuantWare continues to grow.

• Support the Health & Safety Officer in developing and maintaining the laboratory and cleanroom EHS management system, including coordinating the RI&E (Risk Inventory & Evaluation), hazard identification, workplace inspections, risk assessments and implementation of preventive and corrective actions.

• Develop and implement safe working procedures for laboratory and cleanroom activities, including the safe handling, storage and emergency response for hazardous chemicals, specialty gases and other high-risk processes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices.

• Manage laboratory chemical safety programmes, including chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) administration, chemical compatibility assessments, permit-to-work support, waste management and environmental compliance activities.

• Support internal and external audits, inspections and regulatory compliance, maintain EHS documentation, monitor safety performance indicators and contribute to the continuous improvement of QuantWare's safety culture.

• Coordinate laboratory and cleanroom onboarding, participate in laboratory and cleanroom related safety training activities, maintain training and competency records, and support the BHV/Emergency Response Organisation to ensure personnel and emergency preparedness programmes remain effective.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.

• 5+ years experience in Cleanroom facilities Operations, EHS, QHSE, Laboratory Operations or a similar technical environment.

• Experience developing and implementing laboratory or cleanroom operational procedures and work instructions.

• Experience conducting or coordinating RI&E (Risk Inventory & Evaluation), risk assessments, workplace inspections and incident investigations.

• Knowledge of laboratory safety, hazardous chemicals, specialty gases, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical compatibility and applicable EHS legislation.

• Experience supporting audits, regulatory inspections and continuous improvement initiatives within a highly regulated environment.

• Strong organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced scale-up environment.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across R&D, Operations, Facilities and external suppliers.

• A proactive, hands-on and solution-oriented mindset with a passion for building scalable processes and continuously improving ways of working.

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

• Experience working in a semiconductor, high-tech or cleanroom environment is considered a strong advantage.
